Tottenham fans react as Son Heung-min scores winner in World Cup qualifier
Son Heung-min popped up at the right time as South Korea beat Syria in the dying moments on Thursday afternoon – and Tottenham fans have reacted.
Son, 29, has been in brilliant form of late – starring in Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Aston Villa with two assists. On Thursday, he captained his country.
In a crucial World Cup qualifier, South Korea needed a win to place their hold on the six-team group. They got just that, thanks to Son late on.
With the scoreline reading 1-1, after Omar Khribin had cancelled out Hwang In-Beom’s opener, South Korea got a free kick about 40 yards out.
Curled in, Tottenham-linked defender Kim-Min jae headed to Son – who had acres of space and time to place a left-footed effort past the goalkeeper.
What are Tottenham fans saying as Son scores again, for South Korea?
The early stages of the season have told us that Tottenham can survive without Harry Kane – if they have Son in their team going forward.
Against Manchester City and Watford, he scored the winning goals. On Sunday, he created both of the goals that eventually downed Villa.
In the mean time, Kane is yet to score or assist in the Premier League with the next game to come in the second half of October.
For all of the debate surrounding Kane and his future at Tottenham, it is beginning to become clear that the player Spurs must keep is Son.
Tottenham fans reacted to the news that £140k-a-week (Spotrac) Son had scored again for his country – his 28th goal in 95 caps for South Korea.
