Tottenham have added former midfielder Ryan Mason to their academy coaching team, as confirmed on the club’s official website.
He has been working with the academy on matchdays but now officially joins with responsibility for the Under-19 UEFA Youth League side, and continues his life in football after being forced to retire early with a head injury.
John McDermott, the Head of the Academy said: “We have always tried to assemble a blend of staff who know what the demands of the game are at the highest level. All these members of staff understand the incredible standards set at this club.
“They will be invaluable in driving our players to become the best young men and players they can. Four of these have spent many years at the club and know how we function. The experience for the players will be seamless.”

Mason clearly remains a hugely popular figure among the Tottenham fans and many of them took to Twitter when the club announced the news on their official Twitter account.
There’s a lot of love for Mason and lots of supporters are pleased that he still has a role with the club, where he can help pass on his experience of what it takes to make it as a Tottenham player.
