Tottenham fans react as reports claim Antonio Conte would want Romelu Lukaku
A report by La Repubblica has claimed that Antonio Conte may try to sign Romelu Lukaku if he gets the Tottenham job in the coming days.
The situation seems a long shot given the striker has claimed this week that he’s happy playing for Inter.
He bagged 30 goals for the Serie A outfit last season as they won the league title under Conte’s guidance.
Conte could find himself in a situation where he needs a striker. Harry Kane has been linked with a move away and that would represent a problem.
The Sunday World claimed that Lukaku would cost any interested party £80 million this summer, should they decide to let him leave.
As an ex-Chelsea player, signing Lukaku could cause a stir. It’s fair to say he’d be a cracking signing though.
Lukaku has grown as a player in Italy and is now becoming a quality striker. His goal haul for Inter is staggering and plenty of teams would welcome him.
Tottenham finished seventh during 2020/21 and that simply won’t do. If Conte arrives he will want to be challenging for trophies and he’ll need some players.
Lukaku has played for some seriously big clubs and he’d have to be considered a coup at Tottenham.
Lukaku to Tottenham: Some fans would welcome the deal
It seems as though some fans would welcome this deal taking place.
Some also believe attracting Lukaku might help Kane stick around at the club.
It does seem unlikely though that Spurs would sign an £80m-rated player if they don’t make a big sale first.
Some fans seem to want Lukaku at the club though and have taken to Twitter to discuss the latest report.
Whilst it seems a long shot at this stage, that hasn’t stopped some fans from dreaming about Lukaku in the famous white shirt.
