Tottenham fans react as report claims Roberto Martinez in Spurs talks this week, Arsenal also linked
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly staged talks with Belgium manager Roberto Martinez this week, not long before the start of Euro 2020, as they continue their search to replace Jose Mourinho – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports, with the feeling seemingly against him.
Martinez, 47, has sparkled since entering the world of international management – taking over at Belgium after a tricky spell with Everton. The ex-Wigan boss has since won 42 of his 54 matches in charge of Belgium, taking the nation to third in the 2018 World Cup – beating England 2-0.
But Martinez only has a contract at Belgium for another 12 months, which is expected to see him take charge of the 2021 World Cup. It means that Tottenham might be able to try and prise him away from his current job for a small compensation fee – which would be received by the Belgian FA.
Sky Sports claim that talks have been held with Spanish manager Martinez this week, with Tottenham also shortlisting German intellect Ralf Rangnick as well as Brighton boss Graham Potter. It is also claimed in the report that Martinez also has admirers at Arsenal – and Spurs fans are not impressed.
