Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to reports coming out of Portugal that Gedson Fernandes’ 18-month loan spell could be ended early.
According to A Bola and Record, the 21-year-old is the subject of conversation between Spurs and Benfica, with the midfielder having struggled to make an impact in north London.
Gedson joined Spurs in January, but has only made 13 appearances for the club.

This season, he’s only gotten 63 minutes against Chelsea in the EFL Cup, and he is currently way down in the pecking order.
It seems Gedson’s versatility has actually gone against him.
He has been unable to shine in any particular position, and Jose Mourinho clearly hasn’t taken to him.
His desire for regular minutes has been made more difficult in recent times by the addition of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and the renaissance of Tanguy Ndombele, and the chances of Tottenham exercising their reported £45 million option to buy next year is looking highly unlikely at the moment.

Indeed, the player may not even make it that far if reports in Portugal are to be believed.
Although some Tottenham fans showed their sympathy for the player online, the consensus appears to be that the move just hasn’t worked.
