Tottenham Hotspur reportedly made an offer to sign Lyon striker Moussa Dembele before they landed Carlos Vinicius.
That was the claim made by GFFN yesterday, with Spurs having supposedly lodged a loan offer, with an option to buy.
The offer was similar to the one that was negotiated with Real Betis for the transfer of Giovani Lo Celso.

Dembele’s proposed move to north London was apparently blocked by Lyon manager Rudi Garcia, despite the player being keen on the switch.
The rejection was said to have frustrated Spurs, who then made their move for Brazilian striker Vinicius from Benfica.
Dembele has been a hit in Ligue 1 following his move from Celtic in the summer of 2018.
In 98 games for the club he’s scored 44 goals, although he’s yet to get off the mark in 2020/21 after six outings.

The 24-year-old’s game has really come on since leaving Scotland, and he had also been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United earlier in the summer.
The French striker won’t be going anywhere this window, and Spurs fans will be hoping he doesn’t have too good a season following the club’s reported near-miss.
Here were some reactions from fans to the claim Spurs saw an offer for Dembele rejected:
