Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg clocked up his 49th appearance for club and country this season on Thursday night as he lasted the entire 90 minutes during Denmark’s 2-0 win over Israel – and Spurs fans have responded on Twitter.
Since joining Tottenham, 25-year-old midfielder Hojbjerg has been crucial to Tottenham and one of the first names on the team sheet when it comes to an important match. The Dane has started and finished every league match.
He has featured in five of Tottenham’s six cup matches this season, clocking up 120 minutes against Everton – only missing the win over Marine. In the Europa League, Hojbjerg featured in nine of their 13 matches.
His incredible stamina is clearly backed up his ability to avoid injury. With Jose Mourinho desperately needing his key players for the run-in, he will have been concerned to have seen Hojbjerg play all 90 minutes as Denmark won.
Hojbjerg, alongside Christian Eriksen, helped Denmark earn three points in their opening 2022 World Cup qualifying clash with a 2-0 win over Israel. Martin Braithwaite and Jonas Wind found the back of the net.
Spurs fans reacted to the news that £102,000-a-week (Spotrac) star Hojbjerg lasted the entire match – and while some praised his fitness and feel he deserves a rest, others just took to Twitter to applaud their midfielder.
