Tottenham fans react as Paratici reportedly eyes 24-year-old on a free transfer
Tottenham are reportedly battling three other Premier League clubs to sign Ousmane Dembele – and Spurs fans are desperate for his arrival.
Dembele, 24, is yet to play a single match this season as he continues recovery from yet another injury. The France ace has struggled to stay fit.
He is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season and although Barca want to keep him – it looks as though he is about to leave on a free.
90Min report that he wants a pay rise on his £200,000-a-week deal – but that Barcelona are unwilling to offer him that, due to their financial turmoil.
Numerous clubs are interested. Bayern, Dortmund, Liverpool, PSG, Manchester City and Newcastle are all said to be keen on signing Dembele.
Tottenham are also mentioned on that list. Spurs need a winger that can finally come in and hold down the right-wing slot.
Harry Kane starts up top, Son Heung-min from the left. But on the right, it is between numerous players including Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Dembele, January possible?
With his contract expiring in June, a pre-contract can be arranged from January 1. It would mean paying nothing, but not getting him until 22-23.
Or, Spurs could look to arrange a cut-price fee with Barcelona in order to sign him as early as January. Is he a risk, or a gamble worth taking?
Many Spurs fans are siding with the latter. His injuries are an issue, but he is still young and has plenty of time. One fan suggests a swap deal.
