Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that midfielder Oliver Skipp has signed a new contract with the north London club until the summer of 2024 – and Spurs fans have responded on Twitter.

Skipp, 19, is regarded as one of the most-exciting talents to have come through the Tottenham academy in recent years. Having been handed his debut by Mauricio Pochettino, Skipp has clocked up 21 senior appearances for Spurs.

He is the latest of a long line of Tottenham talent to now shine in the first team. Harry Kane being the main example, while Harry Winks, Japhet Tanganga, Troy Parrott and plenty of others are also impressing.

Now, Tottenham have shown just how highly they rate the England Under-21 international by handing him a new four-year contract which will keep Skipp at the club until the summer of 2024.

Skipp has impressed since Jose Mourinho took charge last November, though he has managed just one substitute appearance since the restart. Skipp has plenty of competition ahead of him in the midfield pecking order.

But Tottenham fans are delighted to see Skipp put pen to paper on a new contract with the club, with the general consensus that Skipp has earned the new deal. Some are hopeful he can take Spurs back to the top of the table.

Some, though, reckon a loan should be considered.
