Tottenham fans overjoyed as linked boss looks set to go elsewhere

Tottenham have been dealt another blow in their quest to appoint a new manager. Turkish outlet Radyo Gol, via The Sun, are claiming Nuno Espirito Santo is set to take the Fenerbahce job.

The Portuguese boss had been reportedly top of the club’s list. Tottenham have already suffered several setbacks in their attempts to find a new boss.

Now, the 47-year-old is ready to provide another and head to Turkey. For Spurs, it will represent a case of being back to the drawing board again.

Espirito Santo departed Wolves after four seasons at the end of 2020/21. He won promotion to the Premier League and helped the club qualify for Europe during his time in the West Midlands.

He departed to embark on a fresh challenge and has been seemingly linked everywhere. Both Everton and Crystal Palace were rumoured to have held talks with the free agent.

After failing to agree anything with those clubs, it had seemed as though Tottenham had stolen a march. Now, it looks like another manager to fall through the net, however.

Espirito Santo to Tottenham: Supporters massively relieved

Some of the Spurs fan base are at the point where they will take absolutely anyone. Others are still maintaining a meticulous outlook on the appointment.

It’s fair to say that plenty are happy to see Espirito Santo head elsewhere, with many feeling that he doesn’t have the required quality to progress Tottenham.

The ex-Porto manager had a 47% win ratio from his 199 games in charge of the football club. He won 95 of them and drew a further 49. In the Premier League, he oversaw 43 victories.

Having endured a pretty difficult season at Wolves, it would have been a risk for Tottenham. With that in mind, it’s easy to understand the supporters’ thoughts on Espirito Santo.

Following the news that he’s set to head to Fenerbahce, here is what the Spurs fan base had to say on Twitter.
