Tottenham fans are in disbelief that Harry Winks almost joined Rangers on loan in 2016 following revealing comments from former Ibrox player Andy Halliday.
Speaking on Open Goal’s Keeping the Ball on the Ground podcast, Halliday claimed that Winks was close to joining the Scottish giants in 2016 to aid with his development, but a loan transfer ultimately fell through, and the now 25-year-old midfielder remained with the north London club until being called into the first-team.

A player who was beloved by Mauricio Pochettino, with the Argentine manager calling the England international ‘amazing’ via the club’s official website, Winks’ form in recent months has dipped, with Tottenham set to miss out on a UEFA Champions League spot this season and potentially Europe altogether, and supporters on social media were stunned that the Spurs academy graduate was close to joining Rangers on loan.
