Tottenham Hotspur’s Moussa Sissoko was pushed further forward by France in a clash with Turkey.

Sissoko played in a more advanced central midfield role and was tasked with doing more attacking work. But the Frenchman could not inspire his country to victory.

Olivier Giroud’s goal was cancelled out by Kaan Ayhan as France played out a 1-1 draw with Turkey in Paris. With two games remaining in Group H, Turkey and France are joint on 19 points with Turkey enjoying a better head-to-head record.

Iceland beat Andorra to keep the pressure on the top two teams. But with a four-point gap over Iceland, both France and Turkey should qualify with relative ease next month.

Sissoko will be hoping to play a part again. The powerful Spurs ace has been used as a holding midfielder or as a right-back this season. But he tried to show that he can play further forward.

The 30-year-old has only scored twice in 135 games for Tottenham. And he failed to find the net for France last night despite having three attempts on target. Here are some Spurs fans discussing his performance and new role.
