Mauricio Pochettino’s legacy lives on at Tottenham Hotspur in many ways, not least in the form of his son Maurizio and the young midfielder paid tribute to his Father on his birthday by scoring on Monday night – and Spurs fans have reacted.

Pochettino senior joined Tottenham in the summer of 2014 from Southampton and lasted more than five years at the club. Just six months into his tenure, he lured his son from the south coast to Spurs – aged just 13.

Now an 18-year-old, Pochettino has broken into the club’s Under-23 side and starred on Monday night as Spurs’ reserve side showed the senior side how to do it. Indeed, Pochettino linked up with Troy Parrott to put Wolves’ second string to the sword.

Not only did Pochettino lay on an assist for Parrott to open the scoring, Pochettino also scored an excellent third on the counter attack for Spurs. He did this all on the day that his father and former Tottenham boss Mauricio turned 48.

Jose Mourinho would have been watching on and would have been very impressed with Barcelona-born Pochettino, who is coming on leaps and bounds in the Spurs academy – and is not just there because his father is an ex-Spurs manager.

Many Tottenham fans reacted to his performance on Twitter and the majority were delighted, while some alluded to Pochettino scoring and laying on an assist on Mauricio’s birthday.
