Tottenham fans react as Mauricio Pochettino is linked with Atletico Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to speculation linking former manager Mauricio Pochettino with the Atletico Madrid job.

According to The Telegraph, Atleti are monitoring the Argentine’s availability, with the long-serving Diego Simeone currently under pressure.

Pochettino is thought to prefer a move to the Premier League, but the Spanish giants are currently languishing in sixth in La Liga and could make a move for the unattached 47-year-old should there not be a considerable improvement.

Sacked by Spurs in November, Pochettino has been enjoying some time away from football management.

The former Southampton boss oversaw a nightmare start to Spurs’ 2019/20 season – a particular low point being the 7-2 home defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

He was replaced by Jose Mourinho, who has since helped get the club back on track.

Spurs are back up to fifth now in the Premier League, and will be hopeful of securing a top-four finish come the end of the season.

It would seem the majority of fans are now on board with the idea of Mourinho at the helm, although many Spurs fans still hold Pochettino dear to their hearts.
