Marcus Edwards is reportedly set to leave Tottenham Hotspur and join Serie A side Udinese after jetting out to Italy to complete a move – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
Edwards, 20, was once compared to Lionel Messi as he quickly became very highly-rated in the Tottenham youth team, but he hs failed to live up to the heights expected of him. Indeed, he has managed just one senior appearance for Spurs.
A failed loan move to Norwich City, which produced just one appearance was followed by a largely average spell at Dutch side Excelsior last season. He played 28 times, but only score two goals and laid on four assists for the top-tier outfit.
The England youth international has entered the final 12 months of his Spurs contract and is now expected to follow Georges-Kevin N’Koudou out the exit door at Spurs with a reported move to Udinese set to be announced.
Italian outlet TuttoUdinese have claimed that Edwards has flown into Italy to complete a move to the Serie A side, though it remains to be seen if a move is on loan or indeed permanent. Given his current contract situation, it is likely to be permanent.
Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Edwards is on his way to Udinese this summer, and many believe that although Udinese may land themselves a bargain, he failed to live up to the hype that surrounded his early potential.

He’s a lucky long shot. 30/1 odds, but if he’s attitude improves he’ll be something else. If not he’ll be Ravel Morrison. I expect Levy will insert a hefty sell-on clause

Shame it never worked out for him, think we might regret this

This boy has achieved nothing, I don’t understand why he gets so much attention. Sell him with a big buy on clause

Huge shame we couldn't make it work with him. Hope we don't live to regret it but clearly something isn't right.

Just a new balotelli. All the talent in the world and will no doubt have moments of brilliance, but lacks the work ethic to reality dominate consistently.
