Tottenham fans react as Manchester City reportedly eye Jan Vertonghen
Manchester City are reportedly looking to raid Tottenham for defender Jan Vertonghen this summer with the Belgian set to leave on a free transfer – and Spurs fans have reacted to City’s potential interest.
Vertonghen, 33, did extend his stay at Tottenham until the end of the current campaign – but the 118-time Belgium international is unlikely to renew his current contract beyond Tottenham’s next three league games.
Ajax have been linked with a possible move to bring the left-footed central defender back to the Dutch club, while Vertonghen’s name is on the shortlists of numerous Spanish and Italian clubs.

The Telegraph state that Ajax, Real Betis, Sevilla, Inter Milan and Roma are all interested in Vertonghen – while Manchester City have now joined the race as Pep Guardiola looks to bring in a replacement for Vincent Kompany.
Indeed, City failed to do so last summer when Kompany ended his long-term spell at Manchester City to join Belgian side Anderlecht as a player manager. Vertonghen also offers cover at left-back, something which City want.
Tottenham supporters have reacted on Twitter to the reported news that Manchester City are interested in raiding their club for the Belgian player – and many Spurs fans think it would be a good move for their defender.
