Kion Etete got his name on the score sheet on Friday afternoon as Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-23 side played out a 1-1 draw against North London rivals Arsenal in Premier League 2 – and Spurs fans have applauded the striker.
Tottenham’s reserves came into the match sitting pretty at the top of Premier League 2, Division 1. They named a strong side that also included the likes of Dane Scarlett, Alfie Devine and Nile John – the latter of whom signed a new deal this week.
Ben Cottrell put Arsenal in the lead with a header, but it was 19-year-old Etete who equalised – poking home his fifth goal of the season in Premier League 2. The scorelined remained throughout the match, a result which keeps Spurs top.

Since swapping Notts County for Spurs, Etete is yet to make his senior Spurs debut but has already clocked up 18 appearances for the reserves. He partnered Dane Scarlett in attack, who missed a penalty to put Tottenham 2-1 ahead.
A somewhat feisty match, eight yellow cards were awarded with Devine, captain Brooklyn Lyons-Foster and Jamie Bowden all being cautioned. Five Arsenal players also went into the book but the close encounter resulted in a fair result.
Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the news that £200,000 (Nottingham Post) signing Etete had found the back of the net, and one fan thinks he deserves to make his first-team bow this season – hours Harry Kane suffered a double ankle injury.
