Tottenham fans react as Kion Etete scores again for Under-23’s, in win over Everton

Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-23 side produced an excellent performance to see off the challenge of an impressive Everton side on home soil in Premier League 2 to win 2-1 – and Spurs fans are already raving about striker Kion Etete, after he scored again.

It was fourth against fifth on Friday afternoon as fourth-placed Tottenham hosted Everton. The two sides are certainly on a level playing field, drawing 0-0 on Merseyside earlier this term. Marcel Lavinier and Nile John started, after making their debuts.

Etete, 19, has been in fine form for the club’s second string. The former Notts County man had seven goals in 16 Premier League 2 outings, even though he has been used as a centre-forward and out wide. He has also laid on two assists.

He made that eight goals for the season – heading home a cross from J’Neil Bennett, the ball kissing the post before hitting the back of the net. Nathan Broadhead equalised for Everton, only for Jamie Bowden to score the winner just after the hour mark.

Spurs fans reacted on Twitter after Etete scored another goal – his fifth in his last seven PL2 appearances. The win sees Spurs climb into third place in Premier League 2’s top tier, and many Tottenham fans applauded their teenage striker.

Indeed, it was also his cross that supplied Bowden with the chance to score the winner.
