Tottenham fans react as Juventus chief issues Paulo Dybala update

Paulo Dybala was sensational last season. Despite the presence of Cristiano Ronaldo and other Juventus superstars, he still managed to sparkle for the Old Lady – and he could finally be rewarded, which has prompted reaction from Tottenham fans.

Last term, Dybala had a hand in 31 goals during his 46 league and cup appearances for the Italian champions under Maurizio Sarri. Scoring 17, the Argentina international also created 14 goals – much of which Ronaldo benefitted from.

But it could have been very different. The summer before the 2019-20 season, Daniel Levy was close to securing one of the deals of the summer for the ex-Palermo man. Sky Sports claim a £64.4million fee was agreed, but agent demands scuppered a move.

Fast forward until now, and Dybala remains a crucial part of the Juventus side – despite having entered the final two years of his contract. But that could be about to change, after Juventus chief Fabio Paratici confirmed the club are in talks over a new deal.

“We’re in talks to extend Paulo Dybala’s contract,” Paratici is quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “He wants to stay and we want to keep him, he’s part of our future. We’ll continue the negotiations to find an agreement.”

Spurs, meanwhile, have enjoyed an excellent summer window – adding Carlos Vinicius, Gareth Bale, Matt Doherty, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Rodon, Sergio Reguilon and Joe Hart. But Dybala could remain a target, given his enormous quality.

Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the latest update on Dybala’s future which looks as though it will keep the South American attacker at Juventus for the forseeable future. One supporter claimed Dybala was “missing out”.
