Juan Foyth saw out the entire 90 minutes as Argentina came from two goals down to draw 2-2 at the Westfalenstadion, and Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted on Twitter to his display for Lionel Scaloni’s side.

An ankle injury picked up against Bayern Munich in the Audi Cup during pre-season had prevented 21-year-old Foyth from playing a single minute of competitive football this season. But he lasted the entire match on Wednesday night.

Foyth lined up with Manchester City powerhouse Nicolas Otamendi and Manchester United outcast Marcos Rojo, as well as Ajax left-back Nicolas Tagliafico. But they were instantly stung by the young German side in the first half.

Serge Gnabry continued his wonderful form after his four goals against Spurs, with a neat finish past Agustin Marchesin. Kai Havertz doubled Germany’s lead after a superb assist from Gnabry. But it was a game of two halves.

Former West Ham defender Scaloni produced a tactical masterclass at half-time by reverting to a three-man defence and making two changes, which saw Foyth go from right-back to the right side of a back three.

Lucas Alario and Lucas Ocampos equalised, while Foyth completed the whole match. The defender, who joined Spurs for £8million (Mail), now has eight Argentina caps and has clocked up 25 senior appearances for Tottenham.

Tottenham fans reacted to his performance on Twitter, with many pleased to see him impress at right-back – a problem position for Spurs at the moment.
