Tottenham and Jose Mourinho are reportedly keeping tabs on the situation surrounding Sergio Ramos’ contract at Real Madrid, which is due to expire next summer and makes him available on a Bosman from January 1 – and Spurs fans have responded.
Ramos, 34, has enjoyed another excellent season for Real Madrid so far – surpassing 650 appearances in all competitions for the Galacticos and even netting his 100th goal. Despite his age, he remains one of Europe’s best central defenders.
But his £225,000-a-week contract (Marca) is coming to an end and even though Real are keen for him to sign a new deal – the 178-time Spain international is set to enter the final six months of his contract. That means he can talks to clubs from January 1.

Whether he does that, remains to be seen. But Ramos can sign a pre-contract arrangement with non-Spanish sides under the Bosman ruling that would see him move in the summer. The Evening Standard claim Spurs are keeping an eye on proceedings.
Indeed, Mourinho remains interested in signing a centre-back and after missing out on Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar in the summer, it is believed the Portuguese gaffer wants a deal similar to that of Thiago Silva – who has starred since joining Chelsea.
Ramos is of that ilk and could be on the move as contract negotiations with Real continue to stall. Tottenham fans have responded to reports that their club could be in the market for Ramos – and the overriding majority is to sign the Real skipper.
