Jan Vertonghen is reportedly a target for Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan as the Tottenham Hotspur defender nears the end of his current contract – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter, with many seemingly willing to see him go.
Sky Italia reported over the weekend that Inter want to sign a central defender and Vertonghen, 32, has been made a number-one target with his future in doubt at Spurs. A January move, though, is unlikely, according to the Guardian.
It is believed Inter are focusing on improving their midfield in the winter window, and would rather land Vertonghen on a free transfer next summer when his contract ends. Inter can arrange a pre-contract agreement from January 1.

Vertonghen is one of three players out of contract at Tottenham, but is believed to be the most likely of the trio to sign a new deal at Spurs. Toby Alderweireld and Christian Eriksen also look set to leave at the end of the season.
Inter are in good form under ex-Chelsea manager Conte, currently sitting in second place in Serie A. They have won seven of nine league games, picking up 22 points and sitting just one point behind Italian champions Juventus.
The Belgian star joined Spurs way back in the summer of 2012 for £9.5million (Guardian) from Ajax. He has since clocked up 294 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham, and is expected to reach 300 before he leaves the north London side.
However, he was left on the Tottenham bench on Sunday afternoon as Spurs fought bravely before losing to Liverpool at Anfield 2-1. Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to Vertonghen potentially leaving for Inter Milan.
