Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Giovani Lo Celso has emerged a target for multiple La Liga clubs ahead of the summer transfer window according to Fabrizio Romano – and Spurs supporters have responded on Twitter to the news.
Lo Celso, 24, joined Tottenham initially on loan last season before a move from Real Betis was made permanent in January 2020. However, this season he has struggled to build on a good start – having scored five goals in 19 games.
The Argentina international has since missed the last 17 games in all competitions with a long-term hamstring problem. In his 18 months at Spurs, it seems as if Lo Celso has only been fully fit for a small portion of that time.
Transfer expert Romano have claimed, on his Here We Go podcast, that numerous Spanish clubs are interested in signing Lo Celso – given his form for Betis before moving to Spurs. However, it is claimed that Lo Celso is happy at Tottenham.
“Important Spanish clubs ask about Lo Celso,” Romano said. “They are interested because he played well at Betis. They want him back in La Liga, but the player is very happy in Tottenham now and sees no reason to leave this summer.”
Spurs fans have responded to the news from Romano that clubs want the midfielder. Many think that while he is a good player – they should cash in, with many raising concerns over his injury issues. Some want him sold, to fund a move for Paulo Dybala.
Surely if the interest is true, we consider taking the 40m back and putting it towards a grealish move but think it’ll be about 60/70m… or the cheaper option getting buendia in with the 40m
