Tottenham fans react as Elliot Thorpe set for new club
Recently released Tottenham star Elliot Thorpe is set for an interesting move to the Bundesliga, with Hoffenheim set to secure his signature.
The 20-year-old was allowed to leave Spurs at the end of last month, with the player not receiving the offer of a professional contract.
Now, he’s set for a move to Germany and the central midfielder is close to agreeing on the move.
Thorpe failed to make the step up to the first team during his time at Tottenham. Last season, he was a regular in the club’s under-23 team, scoring three goals.
Hoffenheim were linked with a move for Thorpe back in May by The Telegraph.
On paper, this looks like an intriguing transfer and it’ll be interesting to see if Spurs live to regret this one.
At this moment it’s claimed that a deal is close, with the medical now passed. All that remains is for a formal announcement to be made by the Bundesliga club.
Tottenham fans think they could regret Thorpe exit
The youngster looks set for a bright future in the game and it appears as though some Spurs fans think the club has missed a trick.
Tottenham have been here before. Marcus Edwards and Noni Madueke were both allowed to leave Spurs and are now thriving at Vitoria and PSV respectively.
Thorpe’s career could now follow a similar path and Spurs fans are anxious they’ve let another gem leave early.
Following the latest update doing the rounds on Twitter, here is what Spurs fans had to say about Thorpe close to a move to Hoffenheim.
