Tottenham Hotspur will have to reportedly spend £45million to land Juventus speed machine Douglas Costa this summer – and Spurs fans are desperate to see Daniel Levy open his cheque book.
According to a report from the Daily Mirror (7/4; page 66), the 28-year-old is a target for Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Spurs are expected to be active in the summer window, given that they have finally moved in to the new stadium.
Spurs desperately need additions in the middle of the park, while a new right-back could be on the agenda too. A replacement for Fernando Llorente – who looks set to leave – could also be needed.
But it seems Spurs are also targeting a winger, with Brazil international Costa at the top of their shortlist. The former Bayern Munich man has struggled for Juventus this season, since Cristiano Ronaldo was signed.
He has only played 24 times in all competitions for Massimiliano Allegri’s side, and 14 of those came from the bench. The season before, Costa played 47 times – scoring six and creating 14.
Still only 28, Costa is in the peak of his career and needs regular, consistent game time. A player of his calibre, speed and skill would surely be a permanent fixture of Pochettino’s starting eleven.
Tottenham fans reacted to the news that Costa would be allowed to leave Juventus for a fee of £45million. Many are desperate for a move to happen, which would see the Brazilian become the club’s new record signing.
Definitely a upgrade on Lamela.

I don’t think he’s amazing but he’d be a good squad player.
