Dele Alli has been discussing his altered role for Tottenham Hotspur of late, describing playing slightly deeper as ‘enjoyable’.
The England midfielder was deployed alongside Moussa Sissoko in the engine room against Crystal Palace last week, with Christian Eriksen operating as the most advanced midfielder.

Since joining Spurs in 2015, Alli has forged a reputation as being one of the Premier League’s most prolific attacking midfielders.
In 126 top-flight appearances so far, Alli has banged in 42 goals and registered 31 assists.
The star turns 23 in the next few days, which makes such an attacking output quite remarkable.
Despite his obvious attacking quality, Mauricio Pochettino has seen a few opportunities this season to use him slightly further back, something Alli is more than OK with.

Giving an interview for the official Spurs app, he said: “It’s a position I’m familiar with and played in most of my time at Milton Keynes.
“It was nice to be back there. I enjoy playing there. It’s a different game and enjoyable playing in different positions. You can still get in the box but you see more of the ball.”
Tottenham fans react
Although Alli is clearly capable of playing deeper, some Tottenham fans are adamant that his talents are wasted when asked to do so:
