Daniel Levy has told the Evening Standard that Tottenham Hotspur are unlikely to make signings in the January transfer window given Jose Mourinho has stated he is happy with the Spurs squad – and Tottenham fans are frustrated on Twitter.

Spurs currently sit in fifth place in the Premier League with the aim of finishing in the top four of England’s top tier, in order to qualify for the Champions League. Jose Mourinho, though, has won four of his five Premier League games in charge.

Levy is renowned for not spending money on his side. Indeed, Mauricio Pochettino was barred from signing any players in the summer of 2018 and January 2019. Last summer, the club spent around £100million four new players.

Asked if Mourinho would be given any money to spend, chairman Levy stated that Mourinho is happy with the Spurs side and that any incomings in January are unlikely – even though the club probably need additions to reach the top four.

“Jose is on record as saying what we need now is to get the players playing better, which is what they are doing,” Levy said. “He’s made it clear he is not looking for new players in January. He is happy with what he’s got and that’s why he said that.”

Harry Kane is their only senior striker, with Troy Parrott 17. In defence, Danny Rose is struggling and Ben Davies is injured, while Kieran Trippier was never replaced. Christian Eriksen, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are out of contract.

Tottenham fans reacted to the news that Levy had claimed Spurs would be unlikely to spend any money in the upcoming window, and many Spurs supporters reacted with huge frustration.
