Tottenham fans react as club reportedly scouting Bayer Leverkusen youngster Wirtz

Florian Wirtz has a huge number of admirers from the Premier League and Tottenham can be added to that list – prompting reaction from Spurs fans.

Wirtz, 18, is one of Europe’s best players at his age. Despite being incredibly young, he has already clocked up 59 senior outings for Leverkusen.

A four-time Germany international, Wirtz has had a hand in 29 goals during his 59 – scoring 15 and creating 14. Form has gone to a new level in 21-22.

This season, he has 12 goal involvements in 12 games – scoring six and creating six. Premier League clubs are taking notice.

According to German newspaper Bild, Liverpool, Manchester City, and Newcastle are all keen. Bayern, Atletico Madrid and Barcelona, too.

But Tottenham are on that list too, with Fabio Paratici sending scouts to watch Wirtz in action. His asking price stands at a whopping £84million.

Wirtz is a wonderkid. Every definition of the word. To be producing the stats he is producing, from attacking midfield, is sensational.

He has all the potential in the world. That is, as a winger, as a 10 or as a false nine – he can do it all. £84million suddenly seems cheap.

That is, even if he would be a club-record signing for almost every Premier League club. Even Liverpool and Tottenham, he would be a transfer record.

Tottenham fans are desperate for it to happen, though many are of the belief that there is no chance the club can sign Wirtz – next summer.
