Tottenham fans react as club reportedly rivalling West Ham for Pau Lopez

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly battling West Ham United and Chelsea for AS Roma goalkeeper Pau Lopez ahead of the summer window – and Tottenham fans have reacted to the news they could re-sign the stopper.

Spanish website Estadio Deportivo claim Tottenham want to bring 25-year-old Lopez back to north London, after the two-time Spain international spent the 2016-17 campaign on loan at Spurs. He failed to make a single senior appearance.

However, since that loan, Lopez has come on leaps and bounds. Breaking into Real Betis’ first team, his 10 clean sheets in 35 games saw Roma come calling and he has since impressed for the Serie A giants – keeping nine clean sheets in 34 games.

Such form has seen Tottenham come calling for a player that was once on their books as Hugo Lloris’ cover. Spurs chose not to sign Lopez permanently, and now the latest report claims they are interested in signing him – three years after he left.

The report claims Chelsea and West Ham are also interested in signing Lopez, for a fee believed to be in the region of £36million. Whether the trio of London clubs would be willing to spend such a fee, remains to be seen.

Pochettino once told Football London: “He’s very young but he’s here because we believe in him. If Hugo or Michel are not ready he is a keeper that can cope with the pressure of playing.”

Tottenham supporters reacted to the news that their club could reportedly bring Lopez back to Spurs this summer, and many – although frustrated he was not signed in 2017 – would welcome the Spaniard back.
