Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are reportedly interested in signing Benfica striker Haris Seferovic before Friday’s deadline – but Spurs fans have urged their club to ignore the Switzerland international.

Portuguese outlet O Jogo have claimed that Spurs are battling London rivals West Ham for thw 27-year-old striker, who has finally started scoring on a regular basis at Benfica – after becoming somewhat of a journeyman around European clubs.

Previously at Real Sociedad, Fiorentina and Eintracht Frankfurt among others, Seferovic failed to find the back of the net on a regular basis – scoring just 24 goals in 148 games for the three clubs in all competitions.

But after joining Benfica in the summer of 2017, Seferovic has netted 40 goals in 107 outings as well as creating another 15 assists. He has started just 67 of his 107 matches for Benfica, and has a contract at the Portuguese side until 2024.

The report claims Benfica would want a fee of £25million for the striker, despite Seferovic having an enormous £51million release clause in his contract. Spurs need a striker given Harry Kane is likely to be out until April.

Tottenham fans have reacted to the reported news that they and West Ham are interested in signing Benfica’s number 14 – but many are unimpressed and do not want the Swiss powerhouse signed.
