Tottenham Hotspur coaches Joao Sacramento and Nuno Santos are both reportedly looking to convince Jose Mourinho over a move to sign Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan this summer – and Spurs fans are all for a potential move to sign the Frenchman.
Maignan, 25, has developed the reputation of becoming one of the best goalkeepers in French football – even earning a cap for the national team as Hugo Lloris’ understudy. This season, he has been excellent, keeping 18 clean sheets in 40 games.
He has conceded only 34 goals – taking his overall tally to 60 clean sheets in 172 Lille games. That is excellent, especially for a player of his age, and his performanes have certainly caught the eye of Spurs – according to French newspaper L’Equipe.
They claim that Spurs are keen on Maignan, with the French stopper having worked under Sacramento and Santos at Lille. It is unclear how much Maignan will cost, but it appears that both Spurs coaches are interested in convincing Mourinho.
Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports that their club want to sign Maignan with Lloris being linked with the exit door – and many are of the opinion that he would be an excellent replacement for the Tottenham and France captain.
