Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a shock move to bring Kieran Trippier back to North London. 90Min report an enquiry has been made for the Atletico Madrid star – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
Trippier, 31, left Tottenham in 2019 to join Atletico Madrid for £20million (90Min). That is, after four years at Spurs – clocking up 114 appearances for the North London outfit. But since his move, his career has gone up a level.
Clocking up 84 appearances under Diego Simeone, the Euro 2020 finalist has been in stunning form. Last season, he helped Atleti win La Liga – taking advantage of below-par Barcelona and Real Madrid sides.
But Atleti are not in the mix for a title – already 17 points behind Real Madrid and Trippier has made no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League. 90Min report nine top-tier English sides have made enquiries.

Tottenham are one of the seven clubs the report actually identifies, along with Manchester United, Newcastle, Everton, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Wolves. He has a contract at Atletico Madrid until the summer of 2023.
What are Tottenham fans saying about a potential Trippier return?
Tottenham do have options at right-back, under Antonio Conte. Emerson Royal has been decent since coming in from Barcelona, while Matt Doherty has struggled since he joined the club from Wolves in 2020.
Japhet Tanganga can also do a job as a right wing-back. But Tottenham fans would love Trippier to return to North London and many have urged the club to get a deal done in the coming weeks.
