Tottenham fans react as club reportedly looking to raid Real Madrid for cut-price fee

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to strike a cut-price move to sign Real Madrid and Spain attacker Lucas Vazquez this summer – and Spurs fans have urged their club to strike a deal for the Bernabeu fringe player.

Vazquez, 28, has dropped down the pecking order at Real Madrid since the arrival of Eden Hazard. Gareth Bale, Isco, Marco Asensio, Vinicius Junior and others act as competition for the three-time Champions League winner.

The player has managed just eight starts in all competitions this season, though he has surpassed 201 appearances for Real at senior level – playing 18 times in total during 2019-20. He has scored 24 times, and created 46.

Vazquez has now entered the final 12 months of his contract at Real, which is likely to see clubs come calling. He recently stated in an interview with the Guardian that he would be keen on a move to the Premier League.

He said: “When I was little, I always watched the Premier League with my brother. It was, it is, very attractive: a nice football to play, one that could fit my characteristics and personality well.”

Tottenham boast plenty of options out wide but certainly need a striker. Another attacking wide player that can also do a job up front would give Spurs another option up top, when Harry Kane inevitably suffers another injury.

Tottenham supporters reacted to a report from Mundo Deportivo claiming Spurs are keen on Vazquez and that Levy is willing to pay £15.5million, though Real want £23million. Many think he would be a good signing.
