Tottenham fans react as club reportedly eye shock loan move for Barcelona star

Things are starting to get underway at Tottenham Hotspur. A new manager, a new sporting director and new players – potentially. A report from SPORT claim Tottenham have made a move to sign Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic on loan, prompting reaction from fans. Many are all for his arrival.

Pjanic, 31, only joined Barcelona last summer from Juventus – where he had played 178 times in all competitions and won the Serie A title four times. But at Barcelona it was a very different story. He failed to score or create a goal in 30 outings, as Barcelona fell short in the title race to Atletico Madrid.

His move from Juve cost a whopping £60million (Mail). That means the struggling 100-time Bosnia international has cost a princely £2million per match. But he certainly has not lived up to those figures, neither has he shown in Spain what everyone knows he is capable of.

What are Tottenham fans saying about Pjanic?

Tottenham need a midfield partner for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. In the Danish ace, they have the perfect defensive midfielder. He is the ideal defensive shield for the back four – but they lack his partner. Tanguy Ndombele, Gio Lo Celso and Moussa Sissoko were all used in that role during 2020-21.

Even Harry Winks got his chance. But none failed to do the job. Spurs need a ball-playing, deep-lying playmaker that can get forward and back too. One that can feed the likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-min. Pjanic might be that man – and Tottenham fans have reacted on Twittter.
