Tottenham are reportedly battling Newcastle United and Inter Milan in the race to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana – and Spurs fans have responded.

Onana, 25, has not played a professional match since being handed a 12-month doping ban back in February. That was reduced on appeal.

It saw him only have to serve nine months, and Onana is now available to play once again. But his future at Ajax remains in doubt.

The 18-time Cameroon international is out of contract at the end of the season, despite playing 204 times for Ajax during his career.

Still regarded as one of Europe’s best goalkeepers, and certainly, the best African goalkeeper in world football – interest in him is rife.

Inter Milan are said to be leading the charge, but Antonio Conte is a keen admirer. 90Min say he has told Tottenham to beat his old club for Onana.

Inter and Spurs are not the only clubs interested, with newly-rich Newcastle United also said to be keen. Arsenal have been linked in the past.

What are Tottenham fans saying about battling Newcastle for Onana?

Tottenham might need a goalkeeper. Captain Hugo Lloris remains a crucial part of the Spurs side but like Onana, he is out of contract next summer.

Spurs do have Pierluigi Gollini on the books – after joining on a loan-to-buy basis from Atalanta. But Conte is seemingly keen on adding another keeper.

Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to reports that Conte wants Spurs to beat Newcastle and Inter to sign Ajax goalkeeper Onana.

TransferMarkt say he is represented by the same agency that looks after ex-Spurs goalkeeper Pau Lopez – and out-on-loan Arsenal man Hector Bellerin.
