Tottenham fans react as club reportedly battling Everton for MLS sensation
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly going head to head with Everton over a move to sign Los Angeles attacker Diego Rossi. Pocket-sized forward Rossi has been in stunning form over the last three years in MLS football – and Tottenham fans have reacted. Many think he would be a good signing.
Rossi, 23, joined LAFC – a newly-founded club in the MLS – in January 2018. Since then, he has clocked up 107 appearances in all competitions, and scored a hugely impressive 56 goals. Rossi, who is yet to win a Uruguay cap but has been called up, won last season’s golden boot with 14 strikes.
The Telegraph claim that both Tottenham and Everton want Rossi, with the belief that the South American starlet would be happy to play back-up. Harry Kane remains first choice, while Dom Calvert-Lewin is one of the first names on the Everton team sheet. But both need cover for their main men.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Rossi?
While he is naturally a striker, he is much like Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura in that if needed – he can play elsewhere in the final third. The difference is that while Lucas and Son are naturally wingers, Rossi specialises in leading the line – despite being smaller than most strikers.
Spurs need reinforcements in the final third. Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius are likely to see their loans end, while Erik Lamela and Lucas have been linked with moves. Of course, Kane could go too. Spurs fans have reacted to the reports of Rossi, believing he would be a good addition.
TalkSPORT claim he has been dubbed the ‘next Luis Suarez’.
