Tottenham fans react as club reportedly after Brazilian sensation Rodrigo Varanda

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Corinthians wonderkid Rodrigo Varanda this summer after his breakthrough into the first team with the Brazilian club – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.

Varanda, 18, has broken into the senior side at Corinthians over the course of the last two months. Clocking up 10 appearances, he even scored his first professional goal in just his second outing during a 2-2 draw with Palmeiras.

A versatile, attacking wide man, the two-time Brazil Under-16 ace can play on either flank or in the 10 role. He has even been used further back as a box-to-box midfielder, and as a striker alongside another.

The Sun claim that Spurs are interested in bringing him to London for a fee in the region of £8.5million. It is claimed that talks have been held with the Brazilian side over a move, with Spurs scouts watching Varanda for some time.

He is also out of contract in January and allowed to talk to clubs from August, but Corinthians are looking to hand him a new deal and then sell him for a fee. Spurs are seemingly okay with this, and are willing to pay £8.5million.

Spurs fans reacted on Twitter to the reports that their club are interested in signing Varanda – and while some are all for the idea of getting him in N17, others are more wary. One fan suggested he is “slower than Lamela”.
