Tottenham Hotspur fans have been discussing the prospect of signing Troy Deeney.

Somewhat surprising reports emerged last night that the north London club could be offered the chance to land the 32-year-old on loan this transfer window.

Deeney is no longer a Premier League player having being relegated with Watford on the final day of the 2019/20 season, and the Hornets need to save on wages.

The Daily Mail report Spurs could be in for the player as potential back-up for Harry Kane.

The England captain is the only recognised striker at the club, with Troy Parrott having signed for Milwall on loan.

Last term, Jose Mourinho called on Heung-min Son when Kane was injured, and then Lucas Moura when the South Korean joined Kane in the treatment room.

The need is clear for Spurs to bring in a second experienced striker, with Kane having had a huge workload since the club opted against signing a replacement for Fernando Llorente.

In the eyes of some Spurs fans on social media though, Deeney may not be the right man.

Several expressed their concerns about a player who will turn 33 next year.

In their eyes, Deeney’s level has dropped compared to a few seasons ago and he would not represent a good signing:
