Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a move for Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira after missing out on the Portugal international before he moved to the King Power Stadium – and Spurs fans are desperate to see him signed.
According to Belgian media outlet GVA, 26-year-old Pereira is target for Tottenham ahead of the January window. Spurs currently sit in fifth place under Jose Mourinho, while Leicester are shining in second place – and Pereira is crucial to that.
Tottenham tried to sign Pereira in the summer of 2017 from FC Porto and were close to agreeing a £22million move for the ex-Nice defender, as per the Telegraph. But a move failed to go through and he joined Leicester for £22million (Mercury) a year later.
Instead, Spurs replaced Kyle Walker with Serge Aurier and the Ivory Coast international has come under plenty of criticism this season. His recklessness is a major concern, which saw him sent off against Southampton and struggle against Serge Gnabry.
Spurs have now been linked again with a move for Pereira, which would see the Portugal defender link up with a fellow Portuguese in Mourinho – while the two also have plenty in common after both have spent time at Porto.
Tottenham supporters reacted on Twitter to the reported news that their club are eyeing a move for Pereira, and many are delighted that Spurs could look to bring Pereira to north London – and solve their right-back concerns.
