Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign a striker in the summer and Mauricio Pochettino is said to be considering Werder Bremen skipper Max Kruse – but fans are not interested.

Sky Sports in Germany have claimed that Spurs are interested in the 31-year-old. He has had a sensational season in the German Bundesliga, despite being well into his thirties.

Indeed, the Germany international has been as prolific as he has been creative. Finding the back of the net nine times, Kruse has also created 12 more goals in assists during his 28 Bundesliga appearances.

Werder have scored 46 league goals this season. Kruse has had a hand in 21 of those, signalling just how crucial he is to the German side. But he is set to leave, with Werder yet to agree a contract with the German.

The former Gladbach and Wolfsburg ace’s current deal expires in a matter of months. His form is likely to make him one of the most-sought after free agents this summer, and Spurs have taken notice.

Able to play out wide, in the 10 role and up front, he could be the perfect back-up for Harry Kane, with Fernando Llorente expected to leave. Spurs fans are not as keen, though, and have urged their club not to sign Kruse.
