Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly raid Benfica this summer for left-back Alex Grimaldo as Jose Mourinho looks to freshen up his side in the upcoming transfer window – and Spurs fans are delighted on Twitter.
Grimaldo, 24, is considered one of Europe’s best left-sided defenders that is yet to make a big-money move to one of Europe’s biggest leagues. However, this summer, that could change with Tottenham a potential suitor.
Indeed, Football London suggest the former Barcelona flyer as an option for Jose Mourinho’s side – who are expected to be after a new left-back. Ben Davies is not everyone’s first choice, while Ryan Sessegnon is naturally a winger.

Meanwhile, Jan Vertonghen is due to leave the club at the end of the season with his contract running out and Danny Rose could complete a permanent move away from north London – after joining Newcastle United on loan in January.
Assist machine Grimaldo has laid on eight assists this season, and 30 in his 156 appearances for Benfica – a ratio of almost an assist every five matches. His left foot is a dangerous weapon on the left flank, and it could bring the best out of Harry Kane.
Portuguese outlet A Bola report that Grimaldo has a release clause in his contract worth a whopping £55million, and that may need to be activated if Tottenham stand any chance of signing him. Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
