Tottenham Hotspur may reportedly decide against signing Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis on a permanent basis with Jose Mourinho yet to be convinced – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the news.
Spanish outlet Estadio Deportivo have claimed that Lo Celso can be bought for £35.3million in January, or less at just £27.5million in the summer. Spurs paid a handsome figure of more than £13million just to loan Lo Celso.
It has since been a frustrating period at Spurs for Lo Celso. The Argentina international suffered injury in his first few weeks at Tottenham, and has since been in and out of the side under Mauricio Pochettino – making only eight appearances.
On Saturday, he made that nine with a two-minute cameo role in the 3-2 win over AFC Bournemouth. He has started just two of those nine outings, scoring only one goal in the away win over Red Star Belgrade.
The belief had previously been that Spurs would sign Lo Celso at the end of his loan deal – or indeed January. It was expected that Lo Celso would remain at Spurs beyond the end of the season. But a change in management could now affect his situation.
It is claim Mourinho is not yet convinced by Lo Celso, and is putting off a permanent deal for the attacking midfielder. Tottenham fans reacted on Twitter to the report, with many claiming Mourinho’s thoughts might be elsewhere.
