Tottenham fans react as Cameron Carter-Vickers is not given shirt number

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club confirmed the squad’s shirt numbers for the coming campaign – with Cameron Carter-Vickers one of those missing from the list.

Carter-Vickers always appeared to face an uphill battle trying to break into Jose Mourinho’s plans this summer. The USA international has not played for Tottenham since 2017.

Instead, he has joined five different Championship sides on loan. Those spells have been mixed. And with the defender turning 23 before the turn of the year it would appear that his chance to make the grade with his parent club may have passed him by.

However, there appeared to be a glimmer of hope for the centre-back in more recent times. He was involved in Mourinho’s plans in pre-season.

Nevertheless, Tottenham have confirmed their squad numbers for this season on their website. And after Danny Rose, Carter-Vickers is perhaps the most notable absentee from the list.

And with a number of young players included, it is little surprise that many Spurs fans are now predicting another move for Carter-Vickers this summer.

Some have expressed some surprise, and a little disappointment about the update. Meanwhile, others appear to be convinced that he will be on the move before too long.
