Barcelona are reportedly pursuing a loan-to-buy deal for Tottenham midfielder Bryan Gil in January – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.
Gil, 20, joined Tottenham in the summer in a move that was seen as a bit of genius from Fabio Paratici. Just £21.6million, and the outgoing Erik Lamela.
A few months down the line, and Gil is still seen as a potential gem – but the hype around him has died off somewhat. He has played 13 times.
But Gil is yet to score, laying on one assist. He has hit bar, but on Thursday night he had a great chance – before lashing an effort miles over the bar.
He is far from starting in the Premier League and is feeding off scraps with out-of-form players around him in the Europa Conference League.
Mundo Deportivo now claim that Gil is one of many names on Barcelona’s shortlist this summer. They are struggling to afford to buy in January.
But the report does state that they could bring players in on a loan-to-buy format. Gil is earmarked as a player they could go after in a few weeks.

What are Tottenham fans saying about Barcelona eyeing Gil loan?
Gil looks as though he has lost a bit of confidence, especially since the managers have changed. A return to his home country might help.
What Tottenham have to avoid is losing Gil permanently. So, removing a permanent clause and just letting him go on loan to Barca makes sense.
The Nou Camp club are lacking in options in the final third, and Gil woudl get game time. Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter to the reports.
