Tottenham Hotspur fans have been reacting to the news that Ben Davies is back in training.

The Wales international has been sidelined with an ankle injury since November, and his rotation with Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen when fit has meant he’s made just nine appearances this season.

While the rest of the Spurs squad have been enjoying the winter break, Davies has been hard at work in his recovery.

He now appears to be in contention to face Aston Villa this weekend, something Jose Mourinho had been hoping for.

Davies’ return to the picture is a big boost for Mourinho, who previously commented to suggest the 26-year-old could be an important player for him.

He said (football.london): “If you want to know what I wanted to do, look to my first game against West Ham. That’s the way I thought I was going to develop the team.

“Defend with a back four, attack with a back three. That was the first day of unlucky, goodbye Ben Davies.”

In recent weeks, Mourinho has been putting his faith in youngster Japhet Tanganga to play at left-back, despite him naturally being a centre-half.

Ryan Sessegnon and Vertonghen are also options for the Portuguese.
