Tottenham Hotspur full-back Serge Aurier is facing a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a suspected serious injury whilst playing for the Ivory Coast.
The defender had to leave the field of play during the 1-0 defeat to Morocco, and his assessment of the situation does not sound particularly encouraging.

He said (quoted by Sky Sports): “I think it [remainder of the tournament] may be over because I felt something. It may be a tear.”
Aurier did not give any more details, but it is likely that the former Paris Saint-Germain’s pre-season preparations will be affected.
It is a big blow for Aurier, who will have been looking for a big showing at AFCON amid speculation about Kieran Trippier’s, and his own, future at Tottenham.
The 26-year-old has never really convinced the masses following his £23 million switch (BBC Sport) to north London.

In his two years at the club he has been unable to nail down a regular starting role, instead battling it out with Englishmen Trippier and Kyle Walker-Peters.
Tottenham fans react
News of Aurier’s injury has frustrated a lot of Tottenham fans.
Last term he struggled with thigh, groin and hamstring issues and his latest knock has seen some supporters turn against him:
