Jack Grealish impressed for Aston Villa as the Midlands side earned a solid point against Sheffield United as the Premier League returned on Wednesday night – and Tottenham fans drooled over the Villa skipper.
The main talking point was of course, Oliver Norwood’s ghost goal. The midfielder curled the ball towards the back post in the first half, which was caught by an unsteady Orjan Nyland – who carried the ball over the line.
Goalline technology, though, did not rule that the ball had crossed the line despite replays showing it clearly did, by a fair distance. The game has been somewhat overshadowed by the decision, with VAR failing to overrule the decision.
Villa came into the match in 19th place against a Sheffield United side that are pushing for Europe in seventh place. The point could be a crucial one come the end of the season, with Villa edging a point closer to safety.
Conor Hourihane, Keinan Davis and John McGinn all had efforts well-saved by Dean Henderson, but the Midlands side failed to carve out any clear-cut chances. Grealish, though, looked head and shoulders above once again.
Tottenham came within an inch of signing Grealish back in the summer of 2018 and Spurs supporters reacted to the £100,000-a-week star’s display (Mirror) – with many wishing he was in a Lilywhite shirt.

Precisely what I think. I would still break the bank to sign him. He was willing to come to us before, so why not try?!
