Tottenham fans react as Arsenal summer signing shines in NLD
Tottenham fans have admitted that the club should have signed Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer – after a 3-1 loss in Sunday’s NLD.
The Gunners cruised to victory after a brilliant first-half display. It saw Mikel Arteta’s side leading 3-0 at half-time, the game eventually ending 3-1.
Emile Smith-Rowe was the star of the show, scoring the opener and creating the second – which was well-finished by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
After a deflection off of a last-gasp Harry Kane tackle, Bukayo Saka then tucked a right-footed effort into the far corner past Hugo Lloris.
Son Heung-min got one back, but Arsenal were always in control. The Gunners have now raced to three league wins in a row, after three losses.
NLD: What are Tottenham fans saying about Arsenal ace Tomiyasu?
Tomiyasu, 22, started on the right in what was his third appearance for the Gunners. He was superb, topping the defensive stats on WhoScored.
Joint first in terms of clearances with three, more touches than anyone with 67 and second only to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in terms of aerials won.
TalkSPORT, among many others, reported that Tottenham wanted to sign Tomiyasu in the summer. But the Japan international chose to join Arsenal.
Now, the move has paid off. Emerson is yet to get going, and Tomiyasu is shining – leaving Spurs fans to admit they should have got the Arsenal man.
