Tottenham fans react as 46-year-old manager chooses to turn down move to Spurs
Brighton manager Graham Potter has reportedly rejected the chance to swap the Seagulls for Tottenham. It is another manager that has chosen to turn down a move to Daniel Levy’s side – a list that continues to get longer. Tottenham fans have reacted to the decision made by Potter this summer.
The Sun claim that Daniel Levy has been left shocked by Potter choosing against a move to Tottenham. The North London club decided to go after the highly-rated Seagulls manager, after numerous rejections. Most recently, Julian Lopetegui of Sevilla.
Others include Julian Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers, Paulo Fonseca, Antonio Conte and Gennaro Gattuso. The front runners now include Nuno Espirito Santo, though he is reportedly in talks with Turkish side Fenerbahce. Potter decided that a move to Spurs was not the right time.
What are Tottenham fans saying about Potter and his decision to reject Spurs?
It is a decision that has stunned Levy. Spurs are now less than a week away from beginning pre-season and while it is expected the first fortnight of pre-season will be fitness, Ryan Mason is likely to oversee proceedings. It is an embarrassing state of affairs for a club so big. Jose Mourinho left in March.
Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to respond to the decision made by £19,000-a-week (Express) Brighton boss Potter. Many are frustrated as they believe the former Swansea City gaffer was one of the best remaining options out there. One fan Tweeted that managers are seeing through Levy.
