Tottenham have reportedly made an offer to Fernando Llorente – and some of the club’s supporters are fuming with the speculation.
The Spanish attacker saw his deal with Spurs expire in the summer and he’s now available as a free agent without a club.
But the Evening Standard reports that Mauricio Pochettino’s side have offered him a return to North London on a one-year deal.
It is understood that it’s significantly less than the £100,000-a-week he was previously on with them, but Fiorentina are also credited with interest.
The centre-forward is taking time to ponder his next move and he is now aged 34.
Llorente wasn’t liked by everyone last season at Spurs, but he undoubtedly provided some key moments and backed up Harry Kane well as the second-choice striker.
He is a tall attacker that can lead the line well with his hold up play and is dominant in the air too.
The Spaniard popped up with eight goals in just 35 games last season, including a couple of vital strikes in the Champions League knockout rounds.
A selection of Spurs supporters on social media have responded to the Llorente speculation and are convinced bringing him back to the club would be a poor decision.
They would much rather the club invest in a younger striker to support Kane, but instead could be welcoming back someone in the latter stages of his career.
He proved his importance in the squad last season by offering a plan B, but it seems like some don’t want him back.
Here are some Spurs fans commenting on Llorente:
This is not progression

There will be and is some blowback in the comments to this but he’s absolutely spot on. While acknowledging Llorente’s contributions to our CL run, resigning a 34 year old out of contract is a backwards step for me https://t.co/tV8beWzHwH
